Web Application Developer
Oxford e-Research Centre
Grade 7: £29,099 - £35,788 p.a.
The Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC) works with research units across the whole of the University to enable the use and development of innovative computational and information technology in multidisciplinary collaborations. The Centre is strongly linked to the UK National e-Science programme, and is involved in national as well as international collaborations to ensure its position at the forefront of research infrastructure development. The OeRC hosts the Oxford Supercomputing Centre (OSC).
Applications are now invited for a Web Application Developer to work on the AGORA project. The duties will involve the design and implementation of software infrastructure for the advanced scholarly linking and rendering experiment including:
• Design an elegant, robust and scalable Web application to publish and interlink scholarly content (editions, articles, commentaries)
• Create the database structure using MySQL
• Write the database access layers using PHP via Symfony or other PHP framework
• Collaborate with a graphic artist for the technical implementation of the interface (HTML, JavaScript)
• Customise Open Journal Systems
• Writing XSLT to produce different rendering of scholarly materials (editions, articles)
• Other duties related to the AGORA project
